Lives we Touch
This beautiful, beaming girl just turned 15!
At her birthday party, Philippine sat upright in her chair without assistance, sang joyfully with her classmates, and giggled at the bubbles floating by. It was a celebration she was able to fully take part in because she has gained over 10 pounds, a remarkable 60% increase, since joining Grace House.
This increase in weight, muscle mass, and overall functionality is the result of our focused nutrition therapy. Philippine has Cerebral Palsy (CP), which presents two major challenges: she burns roughly twice as many calories as a child without CP, and she struggles with the muscle coordination required for eating which means mealtimes take longer and require more effort.
At Grace House, our devoted caregivers have the time and training to patiently feed her balanced, calorie-dense meals each day. In addition to her regular meals, Philippine receives a form of Plumpy Nut, a scientifically formulated supplement rich in calories, fat, and protein, designed specifically for malnourished children. It’s easy to digest and helps children like Philippine gain the weight and strength they need.
Watching Philippine transform from a frail, low-energy child into a vibrant girl with plump cheeks and a radiant laugh has been truly remarkable. She’s not just surviving, she is thriving.
