A note from two very special vistors.

What’s Happening

Grace House has had the pleasure of having two special volunteers over the last two weeks.  We have loved learning from them, collaborating with them, and just playing with them.  We even got to have a snow ball fight in Ghana! Although our hearts are sad that they have gone, our spirits are lifted from having the time with them, and we are forever changed by what we have learned and the tools that they have shared with us.  We hope to see you again very soon Kelsey and Kylie!

Our Time at Adom Fie: Why We Continue to Support This Incredible Place

Our time at Adom Fie has been nothing short of transformative. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were welcomed with open arms by the staff, the children, and the energy of the space. There’s something truly special about Adom Fie, you can feel the love the moment you arrive. Smiles are everywhere, laughter fills the rooms, and when someone is having a tough day, there is always someone there to offer comfort and care.

Over the past year, we’ve watched the center grow in so many meaningful ways. The children have made tremendous progress, and it’s clear that this is due to the dedication of the occupational therapists (OTs), staff, and “aunties” who work tirelessly to support each child’s individual needs. Whether it’s developing gross and fine motor skills, learning daily living routines like eating or changing clothes, or simply finding joy in play, every milestone is celebrated here.

Kelsey has been talking about her trips to Ghana for years but when she got to visit Adom Fie last spring, she lit up when she spoke about the kids and the amazing work being done. This year, we had the opportunity to experience it together during a two-week stay. It’s one thing to hear about the impact of Adom Fie, it’s another to see it firsthand.

During our visit, we had the chance to work closely with the OTs and staff to continue supporting the children with autism. We brought along adaptive toys and tools, including a sensory tent, new headphones, and a tablet. These simple items have had a big impact. One child, Morris, now uses the sensory tent and headphones to help regulate himself when he’s feeling overwhelmed. Seeing this change was incredibly moving.

One of the highlights of our time was organizing an Autism Awareness Presentation for the local community. Held on June 26th at Adom Fie, the event was well attended and enthusiastically received. We believe a few new autism advocates walked out of those doors with better understanding, compassion, and practical tools to support children on the spectrum.

Adom Fie is more than just a center—it’s a community grounded in love, hope, and possibility. It’s a place where children with disabilities are seen, supported, and given the tools they need to thrive. The work being done here matters, and the impact is real.

We continue to support Adom Fie because we’ve seen what’s possible when people come together with a shared purpose. If you’re looking for a place to make a difference, this is it. This center desperately needs more monthly supporters like you, to help keep the place running, paying the staff, and continuing the nutritional therapy that is so vital to these kids wellbeing.
