Our Mission

Africa Youth Rising is a non-profit organization operating in Dodowa, Ghana dedicated to providing young people and their families the education, healthcare, and resources they need to escape the relentless cycle of poverty and create multi-generational change.

Our Vision

Ultimately, it is our express goal to identify root causes that force families to abandon children to orphanages and disrupt those patterns. We are seeking the elimination of predatory orphanages that are actively harming children for their own gain in favor of stable, self-sustaining families and communities.

What We Do

WE ARE ON A MISSION TO HELP

Everything we do from health and family planning services, to scholarships, to our center Grace House our aim is to keep families together and to keep children out of orphanages.

Education

Education means more than just school, and education is widely accepted as a primary tool in alleviating poverty. Education is a tool we use to keep children out of orphanages.

Malnutrition Recovery

Malnutrition at a young age leads to an increased lifetime risk of vulnerability, and malnourished babies are at an increased risk of ending up in orphanages.

Community Nursing

The health of people is linked to the health of a community. Working with Ghana Health Services we employ a community health nurse to bridge the gaps between health and our vulnerable families.

Poverty Reduction

Poverty is the primary driver in the predatory orphanage system. Poor families are targeted and deceived into believing that their child will be better off in the orphanage.

Disability Care

Globally disabled children end up in orphanages at 17 times the rate of non-disabled children. We want to stop that.
