Special Birthday Report

Grace House is ONE, come celebrate with us and see all you have made happen this year

Can you believe Grace House is One!

On March 12th 2024 we opened a first-of-its-kind disabled child day care and christened it Adom Fie, or Grace House in English. In the last year, Grace House has become more than we ever even dreamed it could be.

To be honest I’ve had a hard time writing this update because how do I put all that awesomeness into writing? How could I possibly put into words all we have done, all that we have become, and adequately explain all the ripples that have radiated out from Grace House? We call our monthly giving program “Shine on Grace House” because like a beacon on a dark shore, the light emitted from it is cast far and wide. It is reaching individuals and families that we never even know of who are adrift in the darkness.

I beg you to open your mind and your heart as I try to share with you the light that is Grace House and the individuals that have basked in its rays. I will share a snapshot in numbers, and a bit about what those numbers represent, and finally a short slide show of the transformation of Grace House from its humble beginnings into the beacon it has become.

The light in numbers:
    14 disabled children served
11 individuals who have steady paychecks
    25 families stronger

    1836 occupational therapy sessions
2 children who learned to walk
2 children who learned to sit
2 children who learned to eat
6 children who have gained weight
12 children who have found peers
    1 new family created

The light in perspective:
So many families of disabled children live in darkness. Cast out of society, set aside, pushed into the corners where the light cannot reach. Sacked from jobs, excommunicated from churches, and shunned by families, they have found a new place to belong. Where once they walked with their head bowed, they now walk with their chest out and head high. Where once they begged for their existence, they now provide for it. The transformation I have seen in the parents and staff of Grace House was beyond any expectation. To watch how our staff transformed in an instant the day they set up their retirement accounts, now not only providing for their daily needs but to have faith and security in their future. To see the pride in a parents face as they watch their child walk for the very first time in 13 years, or the joy on a mothers face when she hears her son laughing at his friends, or the tears of gratitude that stream down as a mother watches her daughter go from an emaciated shell to a plump babbling and lively young lady.

Yes, the numbers are amazing but what these numbers represent is so much more. To see children just as soon forgotten now THRIVING and how that affects their families. To see families providing for their children and how that affects the community. We have done so much, become so much, and created so much joy in the last year, I honestly can’t even fathom what the future holds for us, but I sure hope you will continue to be a part of it.

With only words that seem to fall shy, I thank you. I thank you for making this possible. I thank you for believing in me, in us. I thank you for shining your light so that Grace House can rise up as a torch to light the way.

With a heart full of gratitude,
Mandie Case, MPH
Founder & Executive Director
And ALL the staff, children, parents and families of Grace House
